RC Car/Truck Tire Balancing

Balancing your Radio Control vehicle’s tires is one of the more important things you can do to improve the handling of your vehicle.

An unbalanced wheel will have a heavy side and a light side. This is due to inconsistencies in foam placement, wheel make and other factors. This off balance weight can cause a vehicle to act wild off of jumps or drastically effect turn handling on straights and turns.

Luckily balancing your tires is easy. You need one a couple of items.

1) Tires to balance
2) Tire Balancer, like the hudy truggy, buggy or touring car shown in the image above
3) Putty or Lead tape (Lead tape can be purchased from a golf shop by the roll)

Once you have the items for the job you simply put the tire on the balancer and spin it. When it stops you make the top as this will be the lightest side of the wheel. Add some weight and spin again. Repeat those steps until you get a wheel that stops in all different positions.
